SWIFT COOKERS
WHAT IS NEW
- In response to the MTA WA’s collaborative advocacy to minimise industry disruption and impact, the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has issued an updated Prohibition Order that has very positive outcomes for sellers and users of Swift 500 Series Appliances.
- The new (current) government-issued restrictions ONLY apply to Swift 500 Series Appliances with the following definition: “Gas fuelled cooktop, grill and/or oven appliances manufactured by CASALE TRIM CO. PTY. LTD., ACN 005 746 001 (Swift Group), between 1 January 2019 and 31 May 2020, inclusive, under model number 502BHSP, 502BHFW, 502DHSP, 502RHSP, 502SHFW, 502SHW, 502WBHSP, 503BHSPM, 503BHSP, 503BHSPMLG, 503BHSW, 503DHSP, 503RHSP, 503SHSPM, 503SHSW or 503BHSPN.” (applicable appliances)
- Until further notice, use of the front left cooktop burner of the applicable appliances is prohibited.
- Other parts of applicable appliances are specifically allowed to be used if the control knob for the front left cooktop burner has been turned to the off position and has been removed in accordance with instructions on the manufacturer’s website (https://www.swiftappliancegroup.com.au).
- Vehicles containing applicable appliances are specifically allowed to be sold, but only if the seller has given the purchaser written notice of the full Prohibition Order (attached for easy member printing).
- DMIRS Director of Electricity, Gas and Plumbing Compliance Matthew Peacock has stated, “Whilst this order permits limited use of Swift 500 Series Appliances, I recommend that people avoid using their Swift 500 Series Appliances until appropriate remedial work has been settled and completed.”
